Michelle Maloney, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with adults from many cultures and backgrounds living with serious mental health or medical issues. I collaborate with my clients to help them take an active role in their unique journeys through empowerment, advocacy, processing their feelings and experiences, and building their resiliency. A typical session with me will be flexible and driven by your needs, ie: I won’t make you focus on your treatment goals if you need to talk about something else going on in your life.
Personally, I have lived with chronic anxiety for many years. I know what it’s like to have a panic attack, to feel physically ill from anxiety and stress, and to be unable to work or sleep because my mind is fixated on past memories, worst case scenarios and what ifs. It’s not easy to learn new skills, change old habits or reframe negative thoughts. However, I believe that change is possible and that the effort is worth it. Let’s start working together to help you feel good again.
Experience:
I have been in the field for 6 years working with diverse populations including oncology patients, caregivers, hospice (grief counseling), substance users, and serious mental illness (psychosocial rehabilitation, inpatient hospital). Some of the services I have provided: individual and group therapy, support group facilitation, case management and discharge planning, psycho-education and crisis work. Also I have worked extensively with families of clients by providing them with education, coping skills training and guidance.
Education:
Masters of Social Work (Florida Atlantic University – go Owls!)
Licensure:
Licensed Clinical Social Work – Florida (SW17554)
